After encouragement from the National Association of the Deaf, Young Thug pivoted from solidarity towards accessibility after originally announcing that he wouldn’t produce any new music this year in support of his “deaf brother”. His new album, cleverly entitled “Slime Language”, features the name of his label in sign language on the cover and promises 15 tracks dripping with lyrical opacity. Thugger’s approach to music—melting sentences together with ragged, autotuned vocals that prioritize emotion over meaning on the word level—has always subverted the importance of traditional listening. It’s heartening to see him apply that logic to the Deaf community and take action to share his craft with all who seek it.

There was a lot of noise made about Tottenham’s lack of summer transfers. Now, three games in, their tight-knit group is undefeated and coming off a noisy 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. Their lack of spending, however, shouldn’t come as a surprise—the Spurs are quietly famous for good business. Manchester City was the stingiest summer market squad in last year’s top 6, spending a net 46 million Euros. The North London boys, for comparison, have netted 5 million euros—profit—since 2012, the year Harry Kane got back from his first loan and two years before the 16 million euro arrival of Christian Erikson. Investing in continuity has been Pochettino’s strategy, promoting improvement over replacement. They may suffer for depth, but their first team (and their checkbooks) are reaping the benefits.
