Challenge
Challenge
A call to engage.
The success of Drake’s song ‘In My Feelings’ proves that airwave dominance is a product of offering individuality to the listener. The Harlem Shake, the unsurprising previous record-holder for U.S. streams, exhibited the blueprint for this astronomical fame as an experience more than a song, a cultural canvas upon which people got to showcase their own creativity. Drake’s album-filler turned Instagram contagion is nearly a carbon copy, offering three garden variety dance moves that can be personalized—making each video unique and (apparently) worth sharing. People aren’t listening, they are creating.
Challenge
The friction before success.
Fans around the NBA will sound like they are stuttering with fear when describing the Warriors new all All-Star starting lineup, and for good reason—the winningest team in the history of the sport has added two league leaders since their Icarus season in 2016. It’s fitting too, that the final piece goes by the name Boogie, because it’s hard to imagine the Dubs doing anything besides two-stepping their way to a three-peat. Should they feel bad about it? No. Are they ruining the league? No. The drama in sport may benefit from an egalitarian regime, but excellence is the only metric at the base of competition. If you can’t hang, you lose.
